Show Me the Artists, 3 Bedfordbury Gallery, Covent Garden

Josie recently exhibited in a group exhibition of work by artists featured in BBC2's 'Show me the Monet' exhibition.

About the exhibition

The Exhibition included work by 20 of the Artists featured in BBC2's recent television series 'Show me the Monet', who were selected by the three member hanging committee for inclusion in a prestigious exhibition at London's Royal College of Art. Only 35 pieces from an initial 1500 submissions made it through to the RCA.

The television series followed the fortunes of amateur and professional artists from all over the United Kingdom. The three Judges for the TV series were David Lee, currently editor of the satirical art magazine The Jackdaw and prior to this editor of Art Review for eight years. Charlotte Mullins who was a judge for the 2009 BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery and has been a selector for many exhibitions including the Jerwood Sculpture Prize & Roy Bolton who as an auctioneer has assessed thousands of paintings.

The 'Finalists' exhibition at 3 Bedfordbury in London's Covent Garden, curated by the Drugstore Gallery and the Artists, gave a chance for a wider audience to view some of the 'finds' from the series and to see other work by the selected artists.

Roy Bolton was quoted as saying that "art isn't about just being creative - I can make an omelette out of broken glass, it might make me creative but it doesn't make me a chef." Some of the Artists exhibiting have experienced a tangible boost to their careers as a result of their appearance on BBC2. Come and visit this eclectic exhibition and see what you make of their work...

Show Me the Monet

Josie recently featured in the BBC2 television programme 'Show Me the Monet'. Josie exhibited her paingin 'Landscape with Blue Wall' in the Show me the Monet Exibition at the Royal College of Art, London in February 2011.

About the Show

This spring, BBC2 brough ‘Show Me the Monet’, a new ten part art series to your screen. Artists from across the nation were invited to submit a piece of work to a ‘hanging committee’ (a panel of three renowned art experts) who were searching for great art from both amateurs and professionals alike.

From an initial application of over 1000, just 35 artists were then invited to exhibit at the Royal College of Art, London, where members of the art establishment, together with members of the public, could critique and buy the selected work. In an exciting twist the work at the exhibition was for sale by ‘blind bid’ and potential buyers were allowed to bid higher or indeed lower than the reserve price.

In a fantastic local display, five Liverpool based artists made it to the Royal College exhibition: Painter and multi-media artist Ashwan, Photographer Tabitha Jussa, semi urban landscape painter Josie Jenkins and visual artist Barbara-Ann.
